All,
I'm refurbishing my MGA windshield wiper motor and have a couple questions:
   1. I notice the windings were coated with a clear varnish which has
mostly worn
away with time. Should I repaint these and if so what should I use? What should
I clean the windings with prior to recoating as I'm concerned about taking the
coating off the winding wire?
   2. The grease used in the gears and up cap that has the main gear and
electric
contact has hardened. I suspect I replace it with dielectric grease?
   3. I plan to replace the brushs and springs, lightly sand the armature
and the
thing(?) it turns in(coil?), repaint the windings, new grease and replace the
mounting kit. I know the motor works but I haven't touched it with a multimeter
because I don't know what to look for except resistance vs. opens. Any
other suggestions?
Thanks for the response,
Gregg Baker
