Engine plate number removal

Hi List, I am about to dip my engine in SC200 by Spartan to remove years of
gunk and goo. The instructions on the bottle states that it will harm
aluminum parts and also your throat if you drink it. So Ive decided not to
take a sip but how do I remove the studs from the engine number plate and
how do I get them back on when clean? Thanks Enrique
