Carburetor

Victoria British offers a SU HIF 44 carb as a replacement to the Zenith
Stromberg on 75 thru 80 MGBs.  Has anyone on the list converted to this
carburetor?  If so, how is it working and would it be more "tunable" for
emission control purposes?  Could a used one be found?  $600.00 for a
carburetor is a little out of the question for me.
