        If you live in an area where ambient temperature varies between very
hot and very cold a thermostatic oil cooler control is a good idea.  Coupled
with a larger oil cooler it will allow greater control of the oil
temperature.  
        Most people do not live in areas of these extremes (except those of
you in Colorado).  If you live in the mountains, and commute to the desert
this would be a good idea.  Anywhere else it is an expensive pretty.
        Being as I am addicted to expensive pretties, I put one on my 65 MGB
along with a 16 row radiator.  I did notice an immediate increase in oil
pressure of about 10 psi.  I also noticed my engine compartment looked more
racy.
        For most people a bit of cardboard in front of the radiator when it
is snowing is about as effective, but nothing like as pretty.  Unless you
maybe use a centerfold....


        
        There are two types of control.
Bypass -  Cheap, cuts off pressure to the oil cooler
Full Flow - Expensive, keeps the oil cooler under pressure.

        Both of the MOCAL units operate at 74 C
