Hi Chris,
'B' Workshop manual talks about TOP and FRONT markings to assist in correctly
replacing the h/gasket with COPPER side UP.
Checking with an 'A'  head gasket ( no TOP and FRONT markings) I have here in
my garage,  the copper side is very clear and when I eventually fit it that
will go UP.
