  Shouldn't one also be concerned about the female threads in the block when
considering changing the torque's used upward?

Unless they have changed since last year, get out your 12 point
sockets.  All of the ARP nuts I have can be installed using these
sockets.

And yes, I agree with Ed, they are nice nuts and studs for the money. 
Oh, BTW, throw out your torque specs for the MGB engine.  You ARP box
should have a revised torque schedule.
