I am another one of those individuals who never actually got to meet Dick
Criswell in the flesh. However, like many other people on this list, I
considered him a friend. We shared at least some of the same sense of
humor, and I looked forward to his posts, both humorous and technical. I
did make time to take my favorite quick run of back roads for Dick on
Sunday though. If you're ever in the Bay Area, take Wildcat Canyon Road
out past Inspiration Point and cross San Pablo Dam Road. This puts you on
Bear Creek Road, which in a short period of time opens out onto one of the
best, untraveled stretches of windy road. The speed limit's 50 MPH, but
you can really open an MG up, as the road is banked well, and the curves
and twists put me in mind of a racetrack like Laguna Seca or something. I
like to play girl racer out there. You've probably got at least five miles
of good road before the street becomes narrow again and winds through the
horse stables and rural countryside, and you can end up in Martinez, or
Walnut Creek, or even Pinole, if you turn left instead of right. It's a
good drive, and it gave me time to think about what we all are, MG
enthusiasts. Have fun with your cars!!! Nina
