Just out of curiosity, why exactly do you have the inkling to move the
switch?  The stock switch location on my car (72...same as your 70) is
rather convenient:  Out of the way when you don't want it, and handily
accessible with an extended finger from the steering wheel.  It seems to me
that using a switch on the console would be even more cumbersome, and less
ergonomic.  Your hands should be in one of two places when driving...on the
wheel, or on the shifter.  A switch on the console takes a hand away from
both of these locations.

Someone sent along a link to a site with a custom shift knob with a switch
in it.  Wouldn't this cause a problem with mistakenly turning the OD
on/off...during rapid, aggressive shifting in particualar?
