How much does he spend on his clothing. Most of the commercial protectant 
can't hurt. Before the mass marketing of these products, I used Pledge or 
Lemon oil furniture polish. All my vinyl is still in good shape after 25 
years, I only replaced the door panels because the backing board became wavy 
& the fabric inserts disintegrated with the foam rubber seat bottom/backs. 
Rubber fittings & Bushings can use some Silcone spray to keep them pliable, 
but I would not use it on seats.
