Two notes on plastics care. First, avoid any silicon product at all costs,
and any with a propellent (spray can). These tend to dry surfaces with
silicon & solvents. Silicon is also very abrasive, and will cause excessive
scratching and wear (this applies to use on plastics and wood) A
microcrystaline wax like Renasance Wax will protect a surface but will not
react with it.

As far as the window with the yellowing and deposits, you should consider
looking to replace it soon. The toothpaste will clean it up, but UV
reaction has removed the solvents which keep it flexible. Old yellowed
plastic will become brittle & crack.
