Scott,
>From your description of the problem, I'm guessing your car has overdrive.
At some point, the lockout switch has failed and allowed the car to go into
reverse while o/d was engaged, with consequent damage to the o/d unit. Time
to take out the engine and gearbox, remove the o/d unit and have it rebuilt,
I'm afraid.
