We had good luck painting rough Rostyle wheels. The silver part needs to
be sanded or wire brushed with a drill to remove the rust. The black
part is usually fine and should just be masked with tape. Tape over each
black secion then trim with an Exacto knife (the section has a raised
outline, so it is easy). Clean with Prep-Sol or Naptha because there
will be silicone on the rim from tire dressing. Priming is recommended.
Paint with several LIGHT coats (resists chipping) of silver paint. DO
NOT use a bright silver. I use Dupli-Color Truck & Van paint T154W Light
Slate (M) from my VIP auto parts store, but Moss sells correct wheel
paint, too. Buy at least two cans. Don't forget your spare wheel. Be
sure to mask the tire stems and tire with tape (tire dressing may give
you fits with no adhesion)
I think that this is the single most dramatic improvement that you can
make to a LBC. It is easy and makes a BIG improvement.
