Need help on GT hatch stays

Hello fellow GTer's:

I am trying to install new chrome plastic hatch stay spring covers.  I
cannot tell how the spring assembly comes apart so that I can install the
cover.  Has anyone done this?

Also, are the two bright metal bolt covers available?
