Only one stab at this - a not unreasonable "70's?".
It was in 1928 on the M.G. Sports Six (later the '18/80 M.G. Six') and gave
a longer dwell period (as with the Mallory distributor). This was the first
production car with an MG designed and built chassis, the first MG to have a
fly-off handbrake, centre-lock wheels, and a black-crackle dashboard with
Jaeger instruments. All sounds very familiar. 1928 was also the year 'The
M.G. Car Company' was established.
