I replaced mine a year or so ago. I removed the dash (had to replace the
dash harness too) and started with the connectors at the steering wheel,
unplugging the old ones and plugging in the new ones, and continued until I
hit the firewall. I threaded the new harness through into the engine
compartment and continued unplugging and replacing until it was done. It
took about half a day, but I was taking it slowly. I'd suggest wrapping
something (dry cleaning bag, maybe) around the harness as you pass it
through the firewall to protect it from getting scraped or mucked up; there
was lots of oily gunk in my engine bay, so I now have a new but soiled
harness. Even dirty, it works much better than the melted one. :)

... My MG awaits a new wiring harness after it's last attempt at self
immolation.
Any suggestions as to replacing the harness(s) from anyone who's been there?
