Removing pollution controls -- how to?

Thanks to those who replied to my HP rating question.  Although I 
must admit I'm disappointed in the answers.  

Since a V8 conversion is beyond my budget at the moment, I was 
wondering how to remove the pollution controls on a 79 B engine.  I 
live in an area that lacks emissions inspections, so that part is not a 
worry.  However, it might be necessary to re-install that stuff should 
the need arise later, so I don't want to do anything deemed 
"permanent".
