Sales of sports cars are booming in Australia. Demand for drop-tops,
coupes and high-performance fun cars has defied a general decline in the
overall vehicle market.

Sales of Ferraris, Porsches and Maseratis are booming and now Britain
has its own sell-out success, a limited-edition MGF that celebrates the
75th year of the grand old British brand.

Just 100 cars came to Australia, from a worldwide production run of only
2000, each personalised to lift them up and over the regular MGF that
hit the road locally in early 1997.

The F-type put the MG badge back on the road, giving Australia a new
British sports car star as well as a compact customer-focused line-up of
special dealers called MG Garages, but the anniversary car is something
special. It comes only with a rorty 1.8 litre VVC engine, 16 inch alloy
wheels and a flash of chrome around the grille., air intakes and door
handles.

Inside, it could only be British - but, again, with a twist - using
grenadine red leather trim, a woodgrain fascia and special leather
highlights on the steering wheel and handbrake lever.

The 100 birthday cars each come with an individual build number and
badge, as well as a certificate of authenticity signed by the car's
designer. The limited-edition MGF costs $AU57,900 - right in the hot
heart of the latest sports car action where it sells up against Mazda's
MX-5 and the latest six-cylinder-only BMW Z3.

Yes... and that sales pitch is the lead up to a competition where they
are giving away... the Birthday Edition MGF :-)

I can't credit a writer for the above because they don't name one, but
as usual, this was reprinted without permission in the interests of
increasing immigration to Australia from the deprived US.
