I don't *think* you're supposed to use anything. At least when my buddy
replaced a plug on his '67 Barracuda which I was supposed to drive for
him to Oregon, and he used a flexible sealant, it blew out on I-80 with
spectacular results, including instant fog cloud, and instanteous engine
overheating and shut-off, followed by a push up the off ramp by the CHP,
and an impromptu 3-mile jog to Grand Auto in Fairfield for a replacement,
arriving two minutes before closing. So I recommend getting a definitive
answer from "someone who knows", and not just using whatever is handy.
