Joseph,

I have never had any luck doing this myself and am even disappointed with the
"professional" repairs.  On cars with real expensive windshields, I would
probably give it a go (and I have) but when my MG had a couple of rock chips
I saw the windshield on sale at VB for about $100 and I bought one!
