This is a SLOW followup to someone who questioned why
their hand brake kept on slipping even after they had
rebuilt most of the brake system.

I had this problem on a 1974 MGB as well.

FINAL SOLUTION was to rebuild the Hand Brake lever
inside the car. The pivot pin for the retaining pawl
at the cog wheel part of the mechanism was so badly
worn that the mechanism would release slightly after
the lever was set. Result was a slipping hand brake.
Had to drill out the pin and replace it with a short
bolt of the correct diameter.

Hand brake now works fine and is very tight - no
slipping at all.
