Clean and drain, tape pieces of cardboard over protruding pieces and then
wrap with shrink wrap. you can pick up a roll of the stuff about 1 ft wide
and just keep going around and around. The UPS guys seem to appreciate
knowing what they are dealing with. They can hold onto it securely and it
won't shift around like it might in a box. You might want to bolt a piece of
ply over the bell and cover the input shaft so that it is not stood on end
putting stress on the input shaft.
