I removed mine by putting a small pin into the hole of the side of the knob.
You then push the lock pin assy, so you free the knob from the shaft.
You now should be able to pull the knob.

There are several flavours of knobs used over the years though, but I assume
the locking is the same.

Getting ready to remove my dash, replace all rubber bits (wind screen,
doors, etc), and put in dash from parts car. In order to do this I need to
remove the switches, gauges, and controls from both cars. How in the world
do you remove the heater control knobs? The cars are vintage 68 (good car,
bad dash) and 69 (bad car, good dash). Thanks...
