hmmmm....very interesting on putting in dual batteries.  My Porsche has two 12
volt batteries in parallel.  It does need a lot of cranking power, as the oil
can get very thick when cold.  I think the bigger reason for them is that they
needed to balance the car.  They are placed as far to the forward corners as is
reasonable (i.e. better balance out for the rear engine).
