Roger,

You'll find the steering arms are extremely difficult to remove! They are a
taper fit and their years of existence in their present location will have
them very firmly secured. Damage to the threads is almost inevitable if you
try to pound them out.

The correct way to remove the lower trunnion is to remove the brake drum and
backing plate first. (And don't forget to push out the steel tubes from
inside the bushings before you try to unscrew the trunnions...........)
