Even when you get parts with an OE number stencilled on them you can't be
sure you are not getting a 'pass off' (i.e. a repro being passed off as OE).
A certain UK Midlands MG parts supplier with an apparently good reputation
tried to sell me some rear springs like that, and when I asked why they
didn't have any interleaving he sheepishly admitted they were repros. They
have now gone bust, not suprisingly IMHO since I don't think they ever
supplied me with anything that was totally problem free, even the last
transaction which was an insurance valuation, where they got the condition
of body/interior and mechanicals the wrong way round!
