One of my favourite ones was when a friend had installed the engine he had
just rebuilt (his first) into the car, and was about to try and start.
Another friend and I pointed to the tray of assorted bolts, where we had
dropped a new con rod lock-tab, and asked him what it was for.
For about 10 minutes we let him wail and carry on an inner debate as to
whether to drop the pan, before we let him off the hook. We made sure we were
out of tool tossing range before telling him.
