Here's what i did

Pioneer DHP (i think) 3300
Pioneer 4" with base-blockers in the door
Pioneer 6x9" in speaker boxes on the back shelf

The speakers have just about the best power response in that price range,
and of course are well matched to the stereo.
It sounds great and improves the experience of the car immensely

got it all from crutchfield

Here are your problems
1. The hole in the dash doesn't quite fit a DIN mount. You need to cut the
curners square and file off about 1mm from each end to get the mounting
chassis in there. Dremel does the trick nicely. Once in the mount is super
secure and certainly the best way of doing it. The faceplate surround covers
the mount so you can't see any evidence of the alteration

2. The speakers have plenty of clearance, but the magnets suck the door
panel in and wind up jamming the speaker on the window wind mechanism.
Solution? Well it's jerry-rigged, but if you cut some wood shims about 1/8"
thick and slide them between the metal door frame and the flexible inner
door panel, then it pushes the panel back out and solves the problem. I also
like this solution cos it doesn't involve any retrofitting of the door
panel!

cheers

Joe
