ok, the tune up i got help doing was only a stop gap measure..

it starts and runs a lot better...the points were burned and we
were gonna replace the cap, rotor, condenser, wires--but the local
part house provided all wrong parts (well, the wires are okay)..

so, i look at the Moss catalog and find confusion--i really don't
know what that DPO did...a 65B with a circa 71 high compression
whose distributor cap looks just like the top entry Lucas # LD004,
Moss #GDC103...which is listed under the 25D ('69-'74)

but given that i'm not certain...and read the note about the number
stamped on the distributor body, i get a mirror to see the number..

and it does not make sense...so, i stand on my head/etc and stamped
is:

 4288B
20 71 (yes that is what i meant to type)

which leave me mumbling in stumbling..

but, the truth is that the top line is REALLY hard to read on the
distro body...it could be 428B because it looks like it was hand
hammered in and maybe the 8 was struck twice by mistake (or the guy
had too much Stout for lunch)..

now, let me add that the guy that helped me with the did the tune
up and valve adjustment (who builds litle Lotus things for fun)
mentioned that this engine is used in lots of boats over here..

maybe i have a boat engine...anyone have any ideas on that distro
number?

huh?
