Barney,

I'm sorry about this fellow's terrible collision, but knowing the strength of 
the
GT as I do, I have to say that the car was going mighty fast to do that to the
roof. His MG didn't roll "on its side and hit a tree". The driver was more 
likely
driving way too fast and lost control. Collisions like this do not happen by
themselves "on a straight clear and dry highway with no other traffic around".
Furthermore, a roll bar wouldn't have helped him. Look at the passenger door: 
The
car hit the tree right through the center of the front passenger space. A
full-race roll cage might have helped, but not a roll bar.
