I think that TIG welding the ports shut is a bit of overkill. I use
Allen socket plugs, available from a good supply house. Duh, I believe the
thread is 9/16 fine, but don't quote me. It is a standard SAE fine thread.
Once installed and the head painted, the plugs look stock.
