I got the car to "run" on starter fluid, and for a few seconds it sounded
alive, but then died. I checked the carbs out and found two
problems. BTW this only works with the choke on.
First the piston assemblies were stuck to the bottom of the dashpots, so I
removed the dashpots and cleaned of the deposits formed from sitting and
refilled with Mystery Oil.
Second both float needles were also stuck shut, so I cleaned them in PB
Blaster and they seem to work fine.
Unfortunately the car still won's stay running. I think that the fact that
it ran smooth on the starter fluid is pretty encouraging (At least where
the engine and ignition systems are concerned). Where should I go from
here? Dismantle the carbs?
Thanks again, Sorry if my emails are getting tiring to some of you,
Patton
