Hi to all you guys & gals out there,
I'm new to your e-mail forum but have read many of them over the
last couple days... Not sure what my boss would think!
I got a nice white, 4cyl, 77B last fall and have been driving it
occasionally this summer. It's in good shape; 62k miles; and all original
except for a lousy paint job. I love the look of it!
I'd like to get it running better. I cleaned the Zenith Carb last
fall but haven't had it tuned by a mechanic. It starts right up but runs
rough at low speeds and seems to run rich. After warming up it runs
somewhat smoother. I bought a nice manual choke kit but haven't installed
it. The stock choke is intact but its hard to know if its adjusted
correctly.
I haven't seen much info about the Z-S carbs. Everyone seems to
have dual SU's or Webers. Here are my questions/concerns:

I don't plan to do any major rebuilds soon but just want the engine to have
better response and running characteristics. Can I achieve this with the
Zenith? Does anyone have any info on performance tuning with the Zenith?
All the emission controls are intact. Should I, or do I, have to
remove/disable them to get better performance?
Is there any incentive for leaving the car as original as possible? I like
performance but definately didn't buy the MG for high performance. (I've
got an F3 for that!)

        Thanks in advance,
                Dennis Luther
