As far as I know, there's no real way of knowing how many Specials
were "built" the Special stuff was sent to dealers as a package, and
they installed it as they saw fit. Many, many cars didn't even get all
the stuff (like the wing mirrors, for example). At any rate, I'd bet
it was a LOT more than 1000 cars. I knew of at least 3 or 4 still
running around in Phoenix.
