researching interior colors/ compression

I am thinking about replacing the interior at some point.  It was redone in
red back in the 70's.  Is there a way to tell what the car originally had for
interior color black or red?  I suspect the original was black not red. The
paint is white.

I am also not sure if my engine is high or low compression I think they made
both. The car is pretty original except for the interior restoration. Thanks
for any feedback
