I really feel stupid, but in reinstalling the rebuilt HS4 carbs on the 67B
I'm not understanding how to hook the choke cable up so it rotates the rod
in the right direction to pull the jets down. I find no pictures or
explanations in any of the three manuals that I have which shows the linkage
between the two carbs.
If I have the linkages installed correctly, the front connecting rod
(connected to the fast idle cams) should rotate clockwise and upwards
towards the rear (throttle shaft) connecting rod in order to push the jet
down. The choke lever is installed with the lever portion (with the hole in
it to connect the choke cable to) pointing away from the engine towards
myself and the left fender. The cable therefore attaches on the right side
of the lever. But with the cable attached, pulling out the choke attempts
to pull the conecting rod down, trying to cause a counterclockwise movement,
the opposite direction that it should turn in order to push the jet down.
So can someone please explain what I'm doing wrong, and exactly how the
inner and outer choke cable is connected in order to turn the outer
connecting rod clockwise.
I'm sure there is a very simple explanation, but evidently I'm too tired to
figure it out.
Thanks,
Monte
