The engine is producing positive pressure and is not "breathing." The most
common source of positive crankcase pressure is blow-by past the piston
rings; I suppose it's possible it might be coming from the valve seals and
guides somehow, since you mention the head-work. I'm not as knowledgeable
about MGB's as I am with Minis and older MG's; Does your engine have a PCV
valve? If so, it's probably blocked. When I souped-up the Cooper S, I found
it necessary to add extra breathing capability by welding tubing to the
second tappet cover and the rocker cover, then running flexible tubing from
these to a tomato can which catches any oil-drips.

In the long run, sealing the engine is not the answer; you need to find out
where the pressure is coming from and then eliminate or ameliorate the
problem.
