As a new member of this list, I am seeking the groups advice on a
potential new purchase...

$7800 for 1957 MGA 1500

Car# HD143/27761  (1957 MGA 2-seater, cellulose paint, North American
market, 17,660 produced)
Engine #18GA/U/L 14234  (this is a MGB 3 mainbearings 1798 engine)

_ can not test engine, but claim rebuilt 2 years ago
_ missing batteries (2x 6-volt) and brackets  ($300);
_ gas tank needs to be boiled or replaced ($300);
_ brake/clutch master cyl requires rebuild ($250)
_ brakes need overhaul ($175)
_ needs new top; frame ok ($450)
_ poor paint; dent in rear qtr panel;
_ 1600 MKII recessed grill in fair condition ($200)
_ missing fender mirrors ($50)
_ missing radio & blanking plate; trunk trim; tools

+ interior good; seats solid; carpet okay
+ gauges clean
+ burl wood dash
+ original triplex windscreen glass
+ new bumpers; chrome trim good
+ Moss Stirling steering wheel
+ new side screens
+ extra non-working engine included
+ wired wheels

Should I complete the transaction or walk (run) away?
Any advice greatly appreciated!
