Hi:
Looking for a fix for a customer. This one is a bit outside of my
expertise, as usually a 5M engine is fitted, and the easy fix is to use the
later short pump.
Customer has a MGA with a 3M MGB motor fitted. With the existing 3M
waterpump, the fan is too close to the radiator.
Does anyone have a tried and tested fix for giving adequate clearance?
Installing the MGA water pump is one alternative, but the reduced pump
volume doesn't sound like a good idea.
Space the radiator forward?
Has anyone pressed the pulley face back, then used the MGA pump pulley?
I also had someone point out that the hot ticket on MGA 1500 engines was to
open up the water pump area to accept the late MGB short pump. Intriguing.
Anyone have experience with this?
