To all,
Necessity...that great mother of invention and a little ingenuity provided me
with a nice moment after our monthly British Car Club meeting on Tues.
08/05/'03.. One of our members, who was tired of scraping his knuckles when he
worked on the radiator or front end of his TR-3A,so he unbolted the front
fenders
from the nose piece/grille surround (cowling) then hinged the font end to
"flop" forward when he needed it out of the way. I didn't catch the method he
used
to secure everything back together but even a couple of pieces of leather (or
belt material) with buckles attached would do (ala Lotus Super-Seven or ?)
would suffice. What I really liked though, was the overall theme of the hinged
front end /nose piece. Makes you wonder why the factory didn't think about this
novel idea. Or has it been done before and I hadn't seen it until last Tues.
night? I love these kinds of novel innovations that make me go "Hmmmmm, now why
didn't I think of that?" It's sort of like the idea of having a rear window
in my MGB's soft top that can be zipped on or off. Off to allow more cool air
into the cockpit, or if the plastic turns too yellow or is so scratched its
difficult to see out.
No problem is so great talking about it doesn't help...
