School has again started and I'm home for the most part and not wandering
all over the hemisphere. Therefore I have time to put the 79B back together
after having stripped it for repainting. I started stripping it over
Christmas break last year and took it to the paint shop on Feb. 10th and
brought it home July 10th.
After stripping everything off, including the dash I drove it about 6 miles
and it died and wouldn't start again, even with jumping. After sitting in
the paint shop for several months, I did go in and it started up again.
After painted, the shop owner started it up and drove it outside. When I
tried to start it to bring it home, it would not start again. Thus I ended
up towing it to the paint shop and also home from the shop, where it's been
sitting in the garage waiting for me to reattach everything.

Questions:
1. Does having the dash off and all instruments disconnected (I pulled all
the wires, not knowing I should just unplug the large plastic connectors
:-() somehow affect the starting/running of the car? After stripping it, I
did reconnect the ground wire in the trunk, and I did have fuel pumping to
the carbs. Seems I've read that disconnecting the tach can cause
starting/running problems.
2. After having set so long, should I squirt some oil in the cylinders
before turning it over? Anything else?

Thanks,
Monte
79B, Carmine, which really wants to be on the road again, looking
good.
67B, BRG, which went 2200 miles into Canada camping for a week in
August
74 1/2 Rust, parts car, which keeps getting robbed and stripped.
