Well, yeah.  Try .003-.007 in.  This is controlled by the thickness of the 
camshaft retaining plate between the cam sprocket hub and a shoulder on the 
front of the camshaft.  The back side of this plate is covered with soft 
white metal (like crankshaft bearings).  When the soft metal wears the 
camshaft aquires more end float.  When the end float is excessive the front 
retainer plate needs to be replaced.
