For radio noise, first make sure the radio and engine are properly
grounded. the straps can become corroded and not provide proper ground.
The case on the radio must have a good ground. Use an ohm meter to
check your grounds
Also replace your old radio antenna with a new one. The shield in the
cable my be broken open. Make sure the antenna in plugged in all the
way.
The likely culprits for noise are the:
generater: whizzing sound - add capacitor to hot side and ground it.
distributor-change your capacitor (they can leak)
plugs/wires - replace them with suppression wires/resistor plugs
still a problem (make sure you do the above first) ? - isolate it by
taking a small radio move it between the plugs, distributor and
generator to see which it is. Then buy a choke (alternator whining) or
transformer. Go to

Go down to the bottom of the page and you'll see some cheaper options
as examples. Ignore the expensive ones, they are for vehicles that
need to have sensitive electronics in them. Radio Shack has some
options also and if you have a local electronics store they would have
them as well.
