My local tire guy (also an MGB owner) says that in '87 they went with a 4
digit code.  So the XZX's that came off my 78 B that looked great but had a
code of 049 would have been manufactured at the end of January 1979! They
got replaced by Yokohama Avid H4 185/65x14's and I love 'em.
