I have to say that with the general appearance of the engine compartment it
is quite likely that time and corrosion will have removed most paint that
was on the engine originally, steam-cleaning removing the rest. Whilst
anything is possible, I consider it highly unlikely that an engine would
have escaped the painting process. Is that black under the silver on the
rocker cover? A 73 engine would have originally been black.
