I have a '70 MGB which resides in the garage most of the time. Just this
week, I noticed that when I switch on the ignition to start, when the fuel
pump is clicking away to pressurize the system (I guess) that the tach is
getting 'bounced'. It will twitch and spin - usually all the way to the
stops. It's not moving in a violent sort of way and it generally stops
before I ever get to the point of engaging the starter.

After the engine starts, I know that the fuel pump runs occassionally, but I
don't notice any unusual movement of the tach needle. I suspect that
perhaps the 35 year old wiring is beginning to loose some of it's insulation
integrity. Does this situation sound like anything that has been observed
by members of the list?

TIA
