Are you sure you have to pull the wheel?  On my 72' (admittedly possibly 
different)  You take the screws out of the column plastic halves and the 
turn signal switch is screwed to the wiper switch.  Think of two half 
circles that have a screw at the top and bottom to hold them togethet 
around the steering shaft.

Just trying to save you some time.
