Hello Friends,
Yes, I got a little time this evening to put some
more bits back in place. How can I find so much
garage time, you ask? Did I mention that my wife is
out of town? She'll be back Sunday and I have done
NOTHING here at home but play in the garage. The
kitchen looks like hell! I'll see to that later this
evening.

So far I have reinstalled the brake failure test
switch, the headlight and heater fan switch, the
warning lights, turn signal repeaters and the oil
pressure gauge. The other gauges and instruments
haven't yet been rebuilt as I am awaiting o-rings from
Barrie. Here's a look:

After completing the work above I wasn't quite
hungry for dinner yet (cold cereal, again probably) so
I decided to work on the sun-visors. The visors are
still in the the to-do box but they just need the
metal polished and the vinyl cleaned and 'fed'. My
quest was to replace the bit that the visor shaft fits
into - whatever its called. Here's the new part:

Of course, before installing the new bits, the old
ones had to be removed. In the next picture you can
see the windscreen frame,(1) with the heads of the
rivets drilled away to free the old rubber clip, (2)
the frame after I drilled out the rest of the rivets,
and (3) after cleaning the frame carefully with
ScotchBrite. Here's the picture:

Here is a before-and-after shot:

This is how it looks with both bits installed:

the rear-view mirror back in place. The frame of the
mirror is fine and has been refinished but I didn't
realize how bad the mirror glass is. Still, I can
replace this bit at any time if I find $35. Actually,
in the picture the flash has made the glass look much
worse than it appears in normal use:

Okay, that's it for Thursday. Now I really must
clean up that kitchen...

Regards,

rick
