Are the points opening and closing as the distributor turns? If no  
adjust the points
Is there voltage to the distributor? (check with key on and points open)
If no is there voltage to the coil? Correct as necessary
If yes can you see a small spark between the points as they open?  If  
this answer is no check the LT lead in the distributor.
BTW coils almost never go bad.
