I brake left foot with automatics, right foot with stick shift. Probably so 
can maintain instant throttle control. After several  mounths of driving the 
automatic (winter car, rust-out what you don't like) I have made the mistake 
of trying to left foot brake my stickshift. Whoops, wrong pedal !!
What did cause your brake failure?
