There is a definite phenomena related to the masses.and that is they 
pick up and go with a trend.  You just have to look at the stupid 
trend to buy bottled water despite it being less regulated than tap 
water from disciplined municipalities, or the equally stupid trend to 
get permanent tattoos, to realise that the Toyota situation is 
another trend.   I have to confess I have been guilty of hitting the 
wrong pedal.   Fortunately being an experienced and "conscious" 
driver I recognise my mistake.  But someone not in petrol-head" mode 
may not recognise the mistake.
